Beginning Sailing – Session 1

Beginning sailing is for anyone interested in learning to sail, no prior knowledge or experience with sailing required.  Students will learn basic sailing skills, concepts, and terms.  Sailors will be able to leave the dock, sail, and return to dock with the help of a fellow crewmate by the end of the class.  Classes are conducted in Flying Junior (FJ) dinghies – lightweight, 2-person, agile boats that are fun for learning and challenging to master. While sailing does not require a high level of fitness, it is a sport.  Students should arrive prepared to play.  On day one, we will be getting into the water.  Every other day, taking a plunge is possible, staying dry a challenge so comfort in the water is recommended.
