CALL TO SUPPORT AYC MEMBERS FOR THE WORRELL 1000 RACE (May 12th to May 25th)

In 2022 Mike Beuerlein (our AYC Harbor Commander) and Philippe Bettler undertook the challenge of the Worrell 1000 race on their F18 catamaran. It was nail biting: a hull split into two, a coastguard intervention. The Worrell 1000 is a gnarly, ridiculously difficult 1000 miles race that started as a bar bet 50 years ago. The race runs between Miami Beach FL and Virginia Beach VA. Ground crew that year were Terri Reuwsaat (Team Manager), John Howard, Chris Ford, Brigitte Benquet, Brian Lambert and Zach Lambert.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Worrell 1000.  Mike and Philippe are supporting a team of two aggressive French/American Champions determined to take the title this year. Our sailors are Matthieu Marfaing, current holder of the North American F19 National Championship, and Manu Boulogne, 18 times French F18 National Champion and  one-time F18 World Champion.  Mike Beuerlein is our team manager. Our ground crew includes Philippe Bettler, Brian Lambert (current time record holder for the Worrell), and Brigitte Benquet.

We invite all our friends of AYC to follow the updates we will post on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube. We also are calling on help for our fundraising.
