Austin Yacht Club

INVITATION

Austin Yacht Club (AYC) members and guests are cordially invited to participate in AYC’s 2006 Summer Series (Series). AYC is both the Host and Organizing Authority of this event.

SITE

AYC is a private yacht club located on Lake Travis at 5906 Beacon Drive, Austin, TX 78734-1428. Directions and other information relating to AYC are available on its web site located at http://austinyachtclub.net/. Please note that neither pets nor fireworks are allowed on club property.

RULES

The Series will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). The Series is classified as a Category C event per ISAF Regulation 20.

RACING

The Series will consist of up 6 race dates (see Schedule section below). There will be no make-up dates for races not sailed on their scheduled day. Racing will take place on courses defined by LCRA ‘channel’ markers, AYC permanent buoys, and/or temporary inflatable tetrahedrons.

ELIGIBILITY

The regatta is open to all monohull keelboats, centerboard boats and large multihull boats (excluding ‘beach cats’) whose helmsperson or at least one crew member is a current member of AYC.

SCORING

All boats will be assigned to a Class for scoring purposes with respect to the recognized racing fleets at AYC. Such Class assignments will be posted on the Official Notice Board prior to the first race of the Series. The ‘Time on Distance’ variant of the PHRF handicap rating system will be used for Classes made up of boats in the Keel Handicap Fleet racing distance courses. Boats will be scored, not crews. Throw-outs will be computed based on the number of races completed, this modifies RRS A2.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing Instructions will be available by Noon on May 21st, 2006 in the AYC clubhouse in the wall-mounted bins next to the beverage cooler in the southeast corner of the AYC clubhouse.

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to helmspersons according to the average number of competitors in their respective Class as follows:

Up to 3 Boats:      One (1) trophy

4 Boats:               Two (2) trophies

5-7 Boats:            Three (3) trophies

8-10 Boats:          Four (4) trophies

11-13 Boats:         Five (5) trophies

ENTRY FEE AND REGISTRATION

There are no entry fee or registration requirements for the Series. Each boat that is scored in a race of the Series is entered in the Series.

INSPECTION & MEASUREMENT

Measurement is not required, but all boats assigned to a Class made up of boats with dissimilar Handicaps must have a PHRF Handicap Certificate on file with the AYC Keel Handicap Fleet, or must complete one before being scored as part of the Series.

LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the Series entirely at their own risk. The AYC, its officers, committee persons, members, or any associates thereof are in no way liable for material damage, personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the Series races.
