1. We are officially calling our Jr. Sailing program at AYC - The Roadrunners - this will include Opti/Pico/Laser/FJ or any other Junior Sailor that we can get involved. We will be doing some things to get more of a team identity going this year. We have a website for AYC Roadrunners activity, news, and calendar: AYC Roadrunners Website
2. 2010 Junior RoadRunner Spring Schedule
It may not be obvious to everyone - but this is our current thinking: We are going to schedule most of our activities on the day of the weekend that the club series race is NOT scheduled. We are going to have practices/races for Optis at the same time as the Laser/FJ group - but will have two different courses and sets of coaches and support boats. We will start our practices and races at 2pm - that means to be on the water at 2pm - so please arrive early to rig/launch. Practices are intended to be fun and developmental. The last practice each month will be more of a racing format. We have club boats available (Optis/FJ and Laser). Supplies are limited and usually available on a first come/first serve basis. Keep a look out for notices on boat reservations. We want to increase participation at all levels so please let us know what we can do to get you on the water.
3. We are going to try to improve communications for the group. Please look at our new website:AYC Roadrunners Website
4. There are other opportunities to sail and race:
We have club boats available for our members to use - to reserve boats contact below:
Opti Green Fleet - Yolanda Mares ymares@earthlink.net
Lasers - John Morran jfmorran@yahoo.com
FJs - Steve Gay seagay1.myfairpoint.net
The TSA web-site has more information about the Roadrunner and other TSA circuit events: TSA Website and Circuit Events April 3-4 - Easter Laser Regatta - this event is held at AYC and is one of the most competitive Laser regattas in the State - all three rigs will have a fleet. We can arrange for our experienced Roadrunners to use AYC boats and have Full, Radial and 4.7 rigs available.
May 1-2 - AYC Centerboard Regatta - we are working with the centerboard fleet to include the Roadruuners - so we hope to have Optis/Lasers and FJs participate.
5. Sail Training Boats can be scheduled for use by members.
Information on how to sign up for use of the sail training boats
Wednesday Night Laser Races and Thursday Night Centerboard Races - we will try to make club boats available for Roadrunners that want to participate.
